Go raises the limits for images, files and data analysis but lacks Plus's GPT-6 reasoning models and expanded deep research. Pro comes in three usage tiers, so you can start with Pro 100 and move up only if you run out of usage.
The same plan can cost a different amount in each channel; the table above shows them side by side. Your subscription stays with the platform where you bought it, so cancel the old one before you subscribe somewhere else, or you will pay twice.
OpenAI bills Go, Plus and Pro monthly on chatgpt.com. Apple's App Store listing for ChatGPT also has a Plus subscription billed yearly (seen in the US, UK, Indian, Australian and Canadian storefront catalogs on 24 October 2026). Where both are verified, we show the upfront annual total next to twelve monthly payments.
On chatgpt.com, OpenAI bills in US dollars except in a limited set of countries where it offers billing in local currency, and the payment methods it accepts vary by country.
It depends on the channel and the country. Apple shows App Store prices with tax included everywhere except the US and Canada, where tax is added at checkout. Google Play requires tax-inclusive prices in many countries, but not in the US or Canada. For chatgpt.com, each price in our table is labeled tax included, tax excluded or tax basis unknown, depending on what the source shows.
Not on chatgpt.com. OpenAI bills Go, Plus and Pro monthly and does not offer annual billing or paying several months in advance; annual plans exist only for Business and Enterprise. Apple's App Store listing does include a yearly Plus subscription.
Pro adds Pro reasoning powered by GPT-6 Astra, longer Codex and ChatGPT Work sessions, the always-on agent Dot, unlimited image creation and maximum deep research, memory and context. It comes in three usage tiers: Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100, and Pro 500 the most, plus Ultrafast mode. All three are billed monthly.
Compare the prices in the table first. A subscription bought in the iPhone or Android app is managed and cancelled through Apple or Google; Apple handles App Store refunds, while refund requests for Google Play purchases go to OpenAI support. OpenAI says chatgpt.com is often the easiest option if you use several devices, and one subscription works on every device where you sign in to the same account. If the app does not offer the plan you want, OpenAI points you to the web.
Cancel where you subscribed: in ChatGPT under Settings, then Billing, for web subscriptions; in your Apple subscriptions for App Store purchases; or in Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
OpenAI says payments are generally non-refundable, with exceptions: an unused individual subscription may get a discretionary refund if you ask within seven days of the charge, and residents of the EU, UK and Turkey get a prorated refund if they cancel within 14 days of purchase. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple, not OpenAI.
OpenAI's current student offer gives four free monthly billing periods of Plus to college and graduate students at eligible US institutions who verify through SheerID. It must be claimed by 31 October 2026 and does not apply to App Store or Google Play subscriptions. For universities, OpenAI sells ChatGPT Edu.
