Perplexity has two paid plans for individuals: Pro and Max. You can buy them on perplexity.ai, in the iPhone app through the App Store, or in the Android app through Google Play. Every price below names its channel, tax basis, billing period and the date we checked it.

Students and faculty at a university-level institution who verify their status with SheerID get Education Pro: everything in Pro at an education discount, plus Learn Mode for guided study. To apply, choose Upgrade in the app, switch to the Education plan and select Verify as student.
If you pay for Pro on the web, upgrade to Max on the web: Perplexity carries over your balance and bills only the prorated difference. Upgrading in a mobile app instead starts a separate Max subscription next to your running Pro subscription.
The prices in our table are App Store prices. Apple shows App Store prices with tax included everywhere except the US and Canada, where tax is added at checkout. Our table labels every price with its tax basis.
Yes. Perplexity offers Max with annual billing, but only in its web app. Apple's App Store listing for Perplexity has a yearly Pro subscription next to the monthly one (seen in the US, German, Japanese, British, Indian and Brazilian storefront catalogs on 23 October 2026), and our table shows its upfront price.
On perplexity.ai you can choose your local currency or US dollars at checkout, and renewals stay in that currency; changing it means cancelling and subscribing again. Users in India can subscribe on the web in US dollars only for now. The currency choice does not apply to App Store or Google Play purchases.
Compare the prices first, then the terms. Annual Max and the local-currency option are web only. In the apps, Apple or Google bill you, and Perplexity support does not manage App Store subscriptions. If your Pro plan is billed on the web, upgrading to Max in an app creates a second subscription.
On the web, go to Settings, then Subscription, select Manage Subscription and choose Cancel subscription. On iPhone, cancel under Subscriptions in your App Store account; on Android, under Payments & Subscriptions in Google Play. Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period, then the account returns to Free. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription.
It depends on where you live and where you paid. In the EU, the UK and Turkey you can get a refund if you cancel within 14 days of purchase, and in South Korea and Brazil within 7 days. Elsewhere, monthly subscriptions can be refunded on request within 24 hours of purchase. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.
Yes. The free Standard plan includes practically unlimited basic searches, a very limited number of Pro Searches, limited file uploads and your search history. It has no advanced AI models, image generation or premium support.
