Students at an eligible college or university get Premium at a discount for up to four years after verifying through SheerID; the status has to be renewed every 12 months. Premium Student can't be paid through a phone or internet provider.
Spotify's country pages often start Premium with a free or discounted first period for people who haven't tried Premium before. Our table shows the price you pay after that period.
Spotify says that where applicable, the Premium price includes VAT. In the US it adds that some state and local governments may require it to collect sales tax, so the amount on your receipt can differ from the advertised price. Our table labels each price tax included where the Spotify page or Spotify's VAT statement covers it, and tax basis unknown elsewhere, including the US.
Why are the Spotify plans different in my country?
Spotify's plan line-up depends on the country. The US and UK pages list Individual, Student, Duo and Family. The India, UAE and South Africa pages list Standard, Platinum (up to three accounts) and a student plan with a Standard account. The South Korea page lists Individual, Basic, Student and Duo.
Verify through SheerID that you study at an eligible college or university, then subscribe to Premium Student. The discount lasts up to four years, and you renew and re-verify every 12 months. Spotify's India help page says students who signed up after 13 November 2025 move to Premium Standard at the then-current price when the student period ends, unless they cancel.
In South Korea, Premium Basic is a plan on Spotify's price page: one account with ad-free, high-quality audio but no downloads. In the US, Spotify's Basic plans are offered only to existing Premium subscribers, on their account page; they have no monthly audiobook listening time, and once cancelled, Basic can't be taken again.
Not as a renewing subscription: Spotify's plan pages price Premium by the month. The India, UAE and South Africa pages also offer a one-time payment option next to the subscription. Our table shows the monthly subscription price.
Cancel any time on your account page under Manage your plan. Premium stays until your next billing date, then the account switches to Spotify's free service. If you cancel during a free trial, the switch happens at once. If Premium is billed by a partner, such as your mobile or internet provider, cancel with that partner.
